FAYPAC Sets 300,000-Vote Target for APC in FCT, Unveils 23-Member Steering Committee

The FCT Abuja Youth Participation Action Community (FAYPAC) has unveiled plans to mobilise at least 300,000 votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Federal Capital Territory through a grassroots network spanning the six area councils.

The initiative, spearheaded by its convener, Ambassador Ayuba Jacob Ngbako, will be driven by a 23-member FCT steering committee approved to coordinate youth mobilisation and political participation across the territory.

Ngbako said FAYPAC was established to engage the large population of young people aged between 18 and 45 in the FCT, whom he believes have not been adequately integrated into the political mobilisation structure.

The committee comprises six area council coordinators representing AMAC, Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Kwali and Abaji, alongside six geopolitical zone coordinators representing the North-Central, North-East, North-West, South-East, South-West and South-South communities residing in the territory.

The remaining 11 positions include the women leader, youth leader, organising secretary, publicity secretary, legal adviser and elders, among other members.

As part of its proposed grassroots framework, FAYPAC plans to establish a minimum of 17 steering or executive committee members in each area council, while three representatives will be assigned to every polling unit across the wards.

Ngbako said the structure would extend across the FCT’s 62 wards and more than 2,500 polling units.

He projected that the organisation would be able to mobilise a minimum of 50,000 votes in each area council, translating to a target of 300,000 votes for the APC across the territory.

However, the figure represents FAYPAC’s mobilisation projection rather than an independently verified electoral forecast.

The 23-member steering committee is scheduled for inauguration this week at Ogun House, No. 74, Central Business District, Abuja.

Ngbako said the inauguration would be followed by the establishment and inauguration of FAYPAC structures at the area council and ward levels.

He said the organisation’s immediate focus was to build an extensive grassroots network that would bring young people into the political process and coordinate their participation in the FCT.
