FCT: FRSC Urges Youths to Obey Traffic Regulations
By our Correspondent
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has urged young Nigerians to uphold discipline, adhere to speed limits, avoid phone use while driving, and embrace responsible road behaviour.
FCT Sector Commander, Mr. Felix Theman, made the appeal during a Road Safety Hangout held to mark the United Nations International Youth Week in Abuja.
The 2025 Road Safety Youth Hangout was themed “Safer Roads, Brighter Future: Youths Leading the Change.”

Mr. Theman expressed concern over alarming statistics showing the high number of young people killed or injured due to unsafe and risky driving habits.
He called on Nigerian youths to support efforts aimed at tackling traffic management challenges in the FCT and to channel their energy towards promoting order and safety on the roads.
According to him, the Sector Command recently arrested 250 drivers for committing 550 traffic offences. Some offenders were prosecuted by mobile courts and sentenced to 14 days of community service, while others had their driver’s licences suspended and were fined, to serve as a deterrent to others.
Mr. Theman reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to continuously engaging the public, especially the youth, to direct their strength towards nation-building.
During the event, 18 Friends of the Federal Road Safety Corps were inducted as Celebrity Special Marshals, including Radio Nigeria correspondent Kayode Oyedare.
