The Deputy Speaker of Gwagwalada Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Hon. Yusuf Nas, has applauded the Chairman of the Council, Hon. Abu Giri, for initiating and executing the installation of solar-powered streetlights across the area.

Speaking to newsmen in Abuja, Hon. Yusuf Nas highlighted the positive impact of the project, noting that the presence of the streetlights has significantly reduced cases of phone snatching and other criminal activities in Gwagwalada. He emphasized that the improved lighting has enhanced the safety and security of lives and property in the communities.

The Deputy Speaker, however, expressed concern over attempts to vandalize some of the newly installed streetlights. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report any cases of vandalism to the appropriate authorities, stressing that the protection of public infrastructure requires the collective responsibility of all.

“We need the support of all our people in Gwagwalada to ensure that these solar-powered streetlights last long and serve their purpose of enhancing security and development in the area,” he said.

Hon. Yusuf Nas assured that all communities within Gwagwalada Area Council would benefit from the project, reiterating the Council’s commitment to improving infrastructure and fostering development. He added that with sustained efforts and cooperation, Gwagwalada would take its rightful place as the industrial hub of the FCT through developmental projects that will boost economic growth.
