FG Mourns Nigerian Medical Graduate Killed in Ukraine

Nigeria has expressed deep sorrow over the death of 23-year-old Nigerian medical graduate, Miss Nnani Adaobi Marian, who reportedly died from injuries sustained during a Russian aerial attack in Kharkiv, Ukraine.


In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Marian, a graduate of Kharkiv National Medical University, was among the civilians affected by the ongoing conflict in the Eastern European country.

The Federal Government extended its condolences to her family, friends, colleagues and the Nigerian community, describing her death as a tragic loss.
“The Ministry prays that Almighty God grants the deceased eternal rest and gives her family the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” the statement said.
The ministry also disclosed that it is working with the relevant authorities, alongside Nigeria’s diplomatic missions in Ukraine and Germany, to verify the circumstances surrounding her death and provide the necessary consular assistance to her family.
Nigeria renewed its call for an immediate end to hostilities in Ukraine, expressing concern over the continued loss of civilian lives. The government urged all parties involved in the conflict to embrace dialogue, diplomacy and the peaceful resolution of disputes in line with international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.
The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the welfare of Nigerians abroad and pledged to continue monitoring the situation while providing the necessary support through its diplomatic missions.
