Final-Year Student Abandons Newborn Baby in Nasarawa Bush
A newborn baby girl has been found alive after being abandoned in a bush in Akwanga town, Nasarawa State.
The infant was rescued by residents on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, near Hope Academy Primary School in the A. A. Koto area.
According to police, the baby’s mother, a final-year NCE student at the College of Education, Akwanga, allegedly dumped the child.
She was later arrested with the help of her friends and schoolmates.Authorities have not disclosed the reason behind the act.
Cases of newborn abandonment are on the rise among young people.
Recently, DAILY POST reported a similar incident in Kebbi State where a lady, identified as Maryam Atiku, buried her baby alive. She reportedly wrapped three pieces of cloth around the baby’s neck, covered her mouth, and carried her to Malam Yaro bush before burying her.
