Five Notorious Bandit Leaders Arrested in Abuja Security Operation
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested five notorious bandit leaders allegedly behind several kidnapping and armed robbery incidents in Abuja and neighbouring states.
According to the police, the suspects—who had been on the wanted list for a long time—were captured in Nasarawa State between September 20 and 28, 2025, during a coordinated operation led by the Commander of the Scorpion Squad.
A large cache of arms, ammunition, and operational motorcycles was recovered during the raid.
FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the arrest on Monday, identifying the suspects as Abdullahi Garuba (aka Alhaji Ore), 40; Yusuf Inuwa (aka Alhaji Dabunda), 59; David Kaika (aka Baba), 29; Baba Imaji, 36; and Ibrahim Nasiru (aka Pepper).
Recovered items include 2,186 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition, two rifles with defaced serial numbers, a locally made pistol with cartridges, and five motorcycles.
“All suspects have confessed to their crimes and will be charged to court after investigations,” Adeh stated, adding that efforts are underway to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, commended the operatives for the successful operation and assured residents of continued clampdowns on criminal networks within the territory.
The Command further urged residents to support ongoing security efforts by promptly reporting suspicious movements through its emergency hotlines.
