Army Rescues 21 Kidnap Victims in Joint Operations Across Kwara and Kogi States

Troops of the 12 Brigade and 22 Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued 21 kidnap victims in coordinated operations across Kwara and Kogi States, following intensified offensives against criminal groups. The operations were carried out on October 17, 2025, according to The Bureau News.

The rescued victims include 14 males, 5 females, 1 infant, and 4 Chinese nationals. Spokesman of 2 Division, Lt.-Col. Polycarp Okoye, disclosed that some of the victims had been held in captivity for over four months before the troops’ decisive intervention led to their release.

Medical care and recovery
After the rescue, the victims were taken to a military medical facility for treatment and relief support. Many were said to be weak due to prolonged captivity but are now responding to care. They will be reunited with their families once fully recovered.

Commanders’ message to residents
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division and Commander, Sector 3 Operation FANSAN YAMA, Maj.-Gen. C. R. Nnebeife, who oversaw the operations, reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to sustaining pressure on criminal elements. He emphasized that there would be no safe haven for criminals within the Division’s Area of Responsibility. Maj.-Gen. Nnebeife also commended the Nigerian Air Force for its consistent air support and appreciated other security agencies for their operational collaboration.
