Kidnap Victims: Security Forces Comb Kogi Forest Corridors

The Kogi State Police Command says it has intensified coordinated rescue and bush-combing operations following the recent abduction along the Idah–Dekina axis, with security personnel combing identified forest corridors in Dekina Local Government Area.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Afusat Oiyza Salihu, on behalf of the command and made available to The Reporters in Lokoja on Saturday.
According to Salihu, the joint security operation commenced in the early hours of Thursday, August 27, 2026, and is being coordinated by ACP M. D. Adamu, Commanding Officer of the 77 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadron, Okene.
She said the operation involves personnel from the Police, Military, Department of State Services (DSS) and local hunters, who are conducting intensive bush-combing and rescue operations across identified forest corridors in Dekina LGA.
The PPRO listed the areas currently being searched as Anejukolo–Egume, Ipadala–Egume and Alade–Egume, where security teams are combing the forest corridors in an effort to locate and safely recover the abducted victims.
Salihu added that surveillance had also been strengthened along major highways within the area of responsibility to enhance security and prevent the movement of the suspected abductors.
The PPRO explained that the operational teams were presently on the field and required the necessary operational space to remain focused on the mission.
According to her, the gradual release of information should not be misconstrued as inactivity, stressing that concerted efforts were being sustained to achieve a breakthrough and secure the safe recovery of the victims.
“The joint operation will be sustained until the desired objective is achieved,” Salihu said.
She assured the public that the Police Command would continue to communicate verified developments as they become available.
The Command also appealed for patience and continued cooperation from residents as the multi-agency security operation continues across the affected communities and forest corridors.
