The Chairman of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC), Victor Muruako, Esq., has praised the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for its sustained commitment to accountability and anti-corruption initiatives across the country.

Speaking in Abuja on Thursday during the ICPC’s 2025 End-of-Year Activities, Muruako commended the Commission’s leadership for maintaining its reputation as one of Nigeria’s most credible institutions in the fight against graft.

He extended greetings on behalf of the management and staff of the FRC, describing the gathering as timely as Nigeria reflects on its achievements and challenges in the outgoing year.

Muruako highlighted the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the FRC and the ICPC, noting that the partnership marks a major step toward deepening inter-agency collaboration in tackling corruption at federal, state, and local government levels.

According to him, both institutions have intensified joint efforts in recent months to improve accountability within local government administrations. These efforts include promoting transparent budget preparation, strengthening public finance management, and modernizing tax and asset administration systems. He stressed that where corruption is detected, the law must take its full course to serve as a deterrent.

Reviewing the year’s achievements, Muruako applauded the ICPC for maintaining an unblemished operational record and avoiding allegations of compromise. He encouraged ICPC staff to remain steadfast, assuring them that the nation values their sacrifices.

Muruako additionally urged Nigerians considering emigration (“japa”) to have renewed confidence in the country’s future, expressing optimism about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda and ongoing reforms.

He reaffirmed the FRC’s continued support for the ICPC and expressed confidence that 2026 would bring stronger gains in Nigeria’s anti-corruption efforts.
