Fresh Trouble for KWAM 1 as NCAA Labels Act ‘Terrorist’, Upgrades 6-Month Ban to Indefinite Suspension

Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, now faces an indefinite flight ban after the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) extended his earlier six-month suspension to a full no-fly order, pending the conclusion of an ongoing investigation.

The development was disclosed on Tuesday night by NCAA spokesperson Michael Achimugu during an interview on Channels Television, where he accused the singer of conduct amounting to “a terrorist act” during a recent altercation at the airport.

The incident, which occurred on August 5, 2025, at Abuja Airport, involved KWAM 1’s attempt to board a ValueJet flight with a flask containing an unidentified liquid. When security insisted on inspecting it, he allegedly splashed the liquid on an officer and later obstructed the aircraft from taxiing.

A visibly angered Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo intervened, describing the situation as a “hostage scenario” and directing that KWAM 1 be placed on both domestic and international no-fly lists. He also warned that any airline defying the ban risked losing its operational licence.

Following the minister’s order, the NCAA initially imposed a six-month suspension and wrote to the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police, urging criminal prosecution for obstructing aviation operations.

Achimugu has now confirmed that the sanction has been upgraded to an indefinite ban while investigators continue their probe, stressing that the matter is far from settled.

KWAM 1 has since tendered an apology, explaining that the flask contained only water for medical purposes. However, aviation authorities remain unswayed as the Fuji legend faces mounting legal challenges and the possibility of court action.
