Fire Breaks Out at MMIA Terminal 1, No Casualties Recorded — FAAN

A fire outbreak occurred at Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, prompting an immediate emergency response by airport authorities.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) confirmed the incident in a statement, noting that firefighting teams were swiftly deployed and are working to fully contain and extinguish the blaze.

According to the agency, emergency operations are ongoing, while passengers and airport personnel are being evacuated in an orderly manner to ensure safety.

To bolster response efforts, FAAN activated mutual aid arrangements and sought reinforcements from the Lagos State Government, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, among other relevant emergency agencies.

The authority reassured the public that no loss of life has been recorded as of the time of filing this report, adding that all necessary measures are being taken to safeguard lives and property.

FAAN said further verified updates would be communicated as the situation develops.
