TAAG Angola Airlines has launched its inaugural commercial passenger flight to Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, marking a major milestone in its push to strengthen regional air connectivity across Africa.

The development was confirmed in a statement signed by Mr. Lilas Orlov, Press Attaché at the Angolan Embassy in Abuja.

According to the airline, the newly introduced Luanda–Abidjan route will operate three times weekly—Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays—offering passengers more flexible and reliable travel options between the two West African cities.

Flights on the route will primarily be operated using the Airbus A220-300, a modern aircraft with a capacity of up to 137 passengers, designed for efficiency and comfort on regional routes.

TAAG noted that the new service aligns with its broader expansion strategy aimed at consolidating its presence in key African markets while positioning Luanda as a major aviation hub.

Central to this vision is the Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport, which is expected to serve as a strategic gateway linking Africa with Europe, South America, and other global destinations.

The Luanda–Abidjan route also adopts a multipoint connectivity model, enabling passengers traveling from Abidjan to connect seamlessly to TAAG’s wider international network via Luanda.

Beyond passenger services, the airline highlighted the route’s cargo potential, noting it will enhance trade and economic ties between Angola and Côte d’Ivoire.

To mark the milestone, a ceremonial event was held at Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport, attended by government officials, aviation authorities, and key industry stakeholders from both countries.
