The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has demonstrated its growing operational strength and advanced air power capabilities to participants of Senior Course 48 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, during a study tour to the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 2 in Katsina State.

The visit, which took place on May 13, 2026, aligns with the vision of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, to build a highly responsive and technologically driven Nigerian Air Force.
The delegation was led by the Director, Department of Joint Studies, Brigadier General K. Rabiu, and was received by the Air Component Commander, Air Commodore C.E. Illoh, who briefed the participants on ongoing counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations in the North West region.
During the tour, participants observed the strategic deployment of air power, intelligence-led precision strikes, and effective air-to-ground coordination in joint military operations. The exercise reflected the commitment of the CAS to improving operational effectiveness through the deployment of modern air assets and enhanced collaboration among security forces.
The officers were also taken through operational facilities where they received detailed briefings on the capabilities of the NAF’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) platforms and the T-129 ATAK Helicopter. The platforms have continued to play major roles in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), precision strikes, and close air support operations across different theatres.
As part of the practical demonstration, the platforms later carried out ISR missions for the visiting officers, further showcasing the NAF’s rapid response capability and sustained operational momentum in the fight against terrorism and banditry.
Speaking during the visit, Brigadier General Rabiu praised the Nigerian Air Force under the leadership of the CAS for its professionalism, responsiveness, and operational achievements. He noted that the Service has significantly changed the dynamics of the conflict through timely and accurate air interventions in support of ground troops.
The study tour formed part of AFCSC’s efforts to expose future military leaders to real-time operational environments while deepening their understanding of modern warfare and the strategic role of air power in protecting national security.
