The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Special Intelligence Squad has arrested six of its personnel, including a driver, for extorting money from motorists along the Gwagwalada–Abaji Highway.

The operation, which took place on Saturday, led to the recovery of ₦39,600 from the officers.

According to the leader of the Corps Marshal’s Special Squad, the arrested team had only been released on Friday, October 31, from the FRSC Headquarters in Abuja, after facing similar disciplinary action last month.

The Squad Head also disclosed that another patrol team from the Abaji Unit Command was apprehended for allegedly using a Point of Sale (POS) operator to collect money from motorists.

Reacting to the development, the FRSC Corps Marshal, Mallam Shehu Mohammed, condemned the act, stressing that the affected officers would be dismissed from service upon completion of investigations.

He maintained that the Corps would not tolerate any form of corruption capable of tarnishing its image.

Mallam Mohammed further assured that FRSC would continue to employ advanced technology, including drones, to monitor personnel and sustain operational integrity.

He also appealed to motorists to refrain from offering bribes to officers and to report any FRSC personnel found demanding money from road users.
