Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has commissioned its first Smart Self-Service Station on Bill Clinton Drive, Abuja, offering customers a technology-enabled fuelling and mobility experience.

The new facility combines conventional fuel services with electric vehicle charging, compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), retail and lifestyle services, as the company moves to modernise its downstream operations and respond to changing consumer preferences.

Speaking at the commissioning, NNPCL’s Executive Vice President, Downstream, Mumuni Dagazau, described the project as another important milestone in the evolution of NNPC Retail.

Managing Director of NNPC Retail, Huub Stokman, said the Smart Station was designed to give customers greater control over their fuelling experience.
According to him, the 24-hour self-service system allows customers to independently complete fuel transactions, select the exact quantity required and make payments at any time of the day or night.

The Smart Station is powered by more than 200 kilowatt-hours of installed solar capacity and features 16 Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) pumps and two Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) pumps.

It has storage capacity for 180,000 litres of PMS and 5,000 litres of AGO.
The facility also has an electric vehicle charging facility with an 86-point capacity, developed in partnership with Africa MotorWorks, as well as CNG infrastructure.

Other facilities include an LPG dispensing unit, modern lubricant service bay, fully automated car wash and a convenience store.

The station also provides space for quick-service restaurants and a coffee shop, positioning it as a broader mobility and lifestyle destination rather than a conventional filling station.

NNPC Retail commended the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) for providing the land for the project and supporting its delivery.

Speaking on behalf of the Comptroller-General of NIS, Kemi Nandap, the Deputy Comptroller-General, Finance and Accounts, Saidu Bashir Daura, congratulated NNPC on the commissioning.
He described the project as an example of the institutional partnerships needed to deliver sustainable energy infrastructure and innovative transportation solutions.

The NIS leadership pledged continued cooperation with NNPC Retail as the company expands its Smart Station model across Nigeria.

NNPC Retail said the initiative would strengthen collaboration between public and private-sector institutions while contributing to the development of a more convenient, technology-enabled retail network centred on customer needs.
