Gabon: Mr Raymond Ndong Sima appointed as interim PM

Military authorities in Gabon has appointed a former opposition leader, Mr Raymond Ndong Sima, as the Prime Minister of its transitional government.

His appointment as the Prime Minister was announced during a Television broadcast by General Brice Nguema, the new head of State.

The 68 year old economist before his appointment was a strong critic of President Ali Bongo, who was booted out of office by the military on 30th August, 2023.

Sima served as Bongo’s prime minister from 2012 to 2014, then resigned and ran against him for president in 2016 and again as part of an opposition coalition this year.
