The Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has inaugurated the Mega Empowerment Programme organised by the Senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Isah Jibrin (Echocho), in Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area.
Represented at the event by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, Governor Ododo described the programme as a strong example of people-focused leadership, noting that it demonstrates genuine concern for the welfare and economic wellbeing of the people.

The Governor praised Senator Echocho for placing priority on empowerment as a strategy for improving livelihoods across Kogi East, stressing that empowerment remains a vital tool for poverty reduction, job creation, and the promotion of sustainable development.

Governor Ododo stated that the initiative aligns with his administration’s vision of building a people-centred government with special focus on youths, women, small-scale businesses, and agricultural development.

He reaffirmed the strategic importance of Kogi East in the state’s development agenda and assured residents of continued investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure, security, and empowerment programmes.
The Governor also emphasized the need for synergy between the executive and legislative arms of government, describing the empowerment programme as a product of effective collaboration aimed at delivering tangible benefits to the people.
While congratulating the beneficiaries, Governor Ododo urged them to make proper use of the items and resources provided to enhance their livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Earlier, Senator Isah Jibrin explained that since his election into the Senate, he has consistently carried out empowerment programmes across the district. He noted that although similar items had been distributed in the past, he decided to hold this year’s exercise publicly following criticisms from certain quarters.
