Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has arrived at the Kano State Government House to meet with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other northern leaders over the tragic killing of 16 travelers, mostly from Kano, in Uromi, Edo State.
The visit underscores Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to ensuring justice for the victims and maintaining unity among all ethnic groups in Nigeria. Since the unfortunate incident, the governor has taken swift action, including suspending the Commander of the Edo State Security Corps, CP Friday Ibadin (Rtd.), and ordering a full-scale investigation. Several suspects have already been arrested as security agencies intensify their search for others involved.
Governor Okpebholo’s visit to Kano is part of his broader efforts to engage with affected families and community leaders, reassuring them of his administration’s determination to bring all perpetrators to book. He has also reached out to the Hausa community in Edo and other northern governors to strengthen cooperation in addressing security concerns.
While expressing condolences to the families of the deceased, the governor reaffirmed his stance that Edo State remains a home for all Nigerians, irrespective of tribe or religion. He called for calm and assured that his administration will continue working to ensure that such a tragedy never happens again.
