The Kogi Alliance for Renewed Hope (KARH), a political support group, has faulted recent remarks by Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, representing Kogi West, over his comments on the endorsement rally held in Lokoja for President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement issued on Monday and signed by its President, Toba Ogundele, and Secretary, Idris Abubakar, the group described Senator Karimi’s comments as “disrespectful, misleading, and disconnected from the realities in Kogi State.

” It maintained that the people of Kogi remain firmly united behind President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

The group dismissed Karimi’s allegation that Kogites were being “bullied” into supporting the President, insisting that the endorsement rally reflected the genuine and voluntary will of the people, who are pleased with Tinubu’s leadership and achievements.

“The people of Kogi State do not need to be coerced to support President Tinubu — they are already convinced by his performance. From infrastructural development to the appointment of qualified Kogi indigenes, Mr President has demonstrated fairness, inclusiveness, and competence that speak louder than campaign rhetoric,” the statement read.

KARH noted that the Lokoja rally, which drew participation from grassroots party members and community leaders, was a sincere display of unity and gratitude, not political manipulation.

“It is disappointing that a senator who has benefitted from the goodwill of these same people would dismiss their enthusiasm as coercion. President Tinubu’s policies have increased federal allocations, improved rural infrastructure, and expanded opportunities for small businesses in Kogi and across Nigeria — these are visible results, not empty promises,” the group added.

The group further stated that the people of Kogi are politically aware and will not be influenced by those seeking to gain cheap popularity ahead of the 2027 polls.

“Senator Karimi’s attempt to discredit a peaceful, democratic endorsement only reveals his disconnection from the grassroots. From Lokoja to Okene, Kabba to Ankpa, the message is clear: Kogi stands solidly with President Tinubu because they recognize the difference between rhetoric and results,” KARH asserted.

The group urged political leaders from the state to put aside personal grievances and work collectively to sustain Kogi’s status as a stronghold of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming elections.

“President Tinubu has demonstrated an unmatched commitment to Kogi’s progress through infrastructure renewal and youth empowerment. The people of this state will proudly vote for him again in 2027 — his record of delivery speaks for itself,” the statement concluded.
