The Association of President Generals (PGs) of Igbo-speaking states in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has paid a congratulatory visit to Chief Simon Okeke, former Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC) and Ochendo Ndigbo, to celebrate his 90th birthday.

Chief Okeke marked the milestone on January 7, 2026, at his country home in Amichi.
Speaking on behalf of the Chairman of the PGs, Chief Marcel Ezeagu said the delegation visited to share in the joy of the occasion and to extend their goodwill to the respected elder statesman.
Ezeagu described Chief Okeke as a symbol of unity, sacrifice, and resilience, noting that he represents the core values of the Igbo people.
He explained that the title Ochendo, meaning “the renowned umbrella,” signifies protection and shelter for all.
The delegation expressed optimism that Chief Okeke’s enduring legacy would continue to inspire generations to come.
In his response, Chief Okeke urged the Igbo people to remain steadfast in their values of hard work, industriousness, and communal spirit.
He recalled how the Igbo, through collective effort, had fostered unity with other ethnic groups and emerged as one of the most economically empowered groups in Nigeria.
Chief Okeke called on the Igbo to sustain their unity in order to enhance their collective welfare and positively impact those around them.
He stressed the need to lead by example, advising, “Know yourselves and be an example for others to follow.”
The Ochendo expressed appreciation to the delegation for the visit and offered prayers for God’s continued blessings upon the Igbo people.
