IGP Appoints DSP Peter Aondongu as Benue Police PRO

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the appointment of DSP Orchia Peter Aondongu as the new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Benue State Police Command.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the outgoing Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus Nwadiogbu.
According to the statement, DSP Aondongu was commissioned as an Assistant Superintendent of Police on December 19, 2019, after completing a five-year cadet training programme at the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
Since joining the Nigeria Police Force, he has served in several operational and administrative capacities, including at ‘B’ Division and ‘C’ Division in Lafia, the Commissioner of Police Crack Squad at the Nasarawa State Police Headquarters, Kadarko Division, Obi Division, and as the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer of the Benue State Command. Before his latest appointment, he was the Divisional Police Officer of ‘C’ Division, North Bank, Makurdi.
DSP Aondongu has also attended several professional courses, including the Mobile Police Force Combat Operations Course at Ila-Orangun, as well as media and public relations training programmes organised by development partners and other stakeholders.
Congratulating the new PPRO, the Commissioner of Police expressed confidence in Aondongu’s ability to effectively coordinate the Command’s public communication, strengthen engagement with the media, and enhance public confidence through the timely, accurate and professional dissemination of information.
The Benue State Police Command also urged members of the public and the media to continue supporting the police in its efforts to promote transparency, accountability and efficient service delivery.
