Independent National Electoral Commission Promotes 2,339 Staff in 2025 Senior Staff Advancement Exercise
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has sanctioned the elevation of 2,339 personnel under its 2025 Senior Staff Promotion Exercise, reaffirming its dedication to staff development, institutional continuity, and administrative stability.
The approval was reached during the Commission’s meeting held on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
At the Directorate cadre (Grade Levels 16–17), 45 Deputy Directors were promoted to Director status. Of these, 18 will remain in active service, while 27 are scheduled to retire shortly after their elevation in accordance with public service regulations.
Within GL 15–16, 91 Assistant Directors advanced to the rank of Deputy Directors, while 82 Chief Officers on GL 14–15 were moved up to Assistant Directors.
The promotion exercise also encompassed 2,121 intermediate officers across GL 07–13 in various departments of the Commission.
Altogether, the exercise cuts across several cadres and was conducted in line with existing guidelines and prevailing public service rules.
The Commission stated that the exercise demonstrates its commitment to recognizing merit, dedication, and long years of service, while maintaining strong leadership capacity across its structures, especially as it prepares for upcoming electoral activities.
INEC congratulated the newly elevated officers and encouraged them to intensify their commitment to professionalism, integrity, and impartiality in carrying out their duties.
