The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has promoted 471 junior staff members as part of its 2025 staff promotion exercise.
The approval was given during the Commission’s weekly meeting on Thursday, September 25, 2025, presided over by Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.
A total of 515 staff were considered for elevation, with 214 moving up to Grade Level 07, 134 to Grade Level 06, 106 to Grade Level 05, and 17 to Grade Level 04. The exercise, which covers officers between Grade Levels 03 and 06, represents the first phase of the promotion cycle. The second phase, focusing on senior staff, has already commenced.
INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, who signed the statement, emphasized that the Commission remains committed to merit-based progression and staff welfare.
“Staff promotion is a routine exercise. The Commission remains committed to regular merit-based promotion and the welfare of staff. We urge all staff to rededicate themselves to service, particularly with regard to elections and electoral activities,” the statement noted.
The Commission also reviewed preparations for the forthcoming Anambra State governorship election, the FCT Area Council election, and the conduct of party primaries ahead of the Ekiti and Osun governorship polls.
