The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reminded Nigerians who pre-registered online for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to visit designated centres for biometric capturing, stressing that online registration alone is incomplete.

In a statement signed by the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, on Tuesday in Abuja, INEC disclosed that 2,532,062 citizens had pre-registered online as at August 31, 2025.

Of this number, 63.29% are youths between the ages of 18 and 34, while 25.57% are students.

The Commission explained that while online pre-registration offers flexibility, applicants must appear physically at its 811 State and Local Government offices nationwide for fingerprint and facial capturing to validate their registration.

Similarly, the in-person registration which commenced on August 25, 2025, has recorded 72,274 registrations within five days, with youths again dominating the figure.

INEC urged eligible citizens to take advantage of the exercise, open weekdays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, and assured that detailed registration breakdowns are available on its official platforms. It also commended organisations helping to mobilise participation.
