JUST IN: Bandits Strike Again in Niger, Kill 30, Torch Market, Abduct Scores

Armed men suspected to be bandits operating from the Kainji Lake National Park forest along Kabe District in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State have attacked a village market, killing at least 30 residents, setting the market ablaze, and abducting several others.
The attackers reportedly stormed Kasuwan Daji market in Demo village via Kabe, where they looted traders’ goods—particularly food items—before opening fire on villagers.

Many residents were also kidnapped and taken through routes leading into the expansive Kainji Lake National Park forest.
Confirming the incident to LEADERSHIP, the Public Relations Officer of the Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, said a joint security team had visited the scene. He disclosed that more than 30 people lost their lives during the attack, while others were abducted.
According to him, security agencies have commenced efforts to rescue the kidnapped victims and restore calm to the affected area.
