JUST IN: Explosions in Israel as Iran retaliates; Donald Trump vows to crush Iranian military, topple regime

Explosions rocked the Haifa area in northern Israel on Saturday after projectiles were fired from Iran, Israeli outlet Ynet reported.
Earlier, air raid sirens blared across multiple parts of Israel after the Israeli military confirmed that missiles had been launched from Iran toward its territory.

Israel had earlier carried out strikes on Iran in the early hours of Saturday under an operation codenamed “Lion’s Roar,” while declaring a “special and immediate” state of emergency nationwide.
U.S. President Donald Trump also acknowledged the commencement of “major combat operations” in Iran, stating that the action was aimed at protecting American citizens by “eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime.”
Iranian state television reported that the country’s armed forces were targeting U.S. military bases in the region.
In a video address released Saturday, Trump pledged to “annihilate” Iran’s naval forces and missile infrastructure, calling on the Iranian people to rise against their government.
He emphasized that the objective of the campaign was to dismantle the Islamic republic’s military capability and remove the leadership that has been in power since the 1979 revolution.
“We are going to destroy their missiles and raze their missile industry to the ground. It will be totally — again — obliterated. We’re going to annihilate their navy,” Trump declared from his Florida residence in a message shared on his Truth Social platform.
Addressing the Iranian public directly, he added: “When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take.”
“This will be probably your only chance for generations,” Trump said. “The hour of your freedom is at hand.”
He further urged members of Iran’s armed forces, including the elite Revolutionary Guards tasked with protecting the cleric-led administration, to surrender.
“To the members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, the armed forces, and all of the police, I say tonight that you must lay down your weapons and have complete immunity or in the alternative, face certain death.”
Trump defended the military action, stating: “Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime.”
