JUST IN: Tinubu Endorses Lifetime Retirement Benefits for Senior Officers

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has announced a new retirement policy that provides lifetime salary benefits for senior officers retiring from the rank of Deputy Controller, Comptroller, or Commandant-General and above.

The initiative, approved by President Bola Tinubu, is regarded as a significant step towards improving officer welfare.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo made the disclosure on Thursday during the 2025 Ministerial Retreat, where he presented the ministry’s achievements and reaffirmed its dedication to enhancing institutional performance and capacity across its agencies.

Details of the announcement were contained in a statement issued by DCF P.O. Abraham, National Public Relations Officer and Head of Corporate Services of the Federal Fire Service, shortly after the retreat.

According to the statement, the minister commended President Tinubu for his steadfast support, stressing that all agencies under the Ministry of Interior are benefiting from the Renewed Hope Agenda.
