By Admin
An Air Peace flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt encountered a brief runway incident upon landing at the Port Harcourt International Airport on Sunday morning, resulting in what the airline described as a “runway excursion.”
In an official statement, Air Peace spokesperson Osifo-Whiskey Efe confirmed that the aircraft operating Flight P47190 veered slightly off the runway shortly after touchdown. The airline emphasized that there were no injuries or damage, and all passengers disembarked safely and without panic.
“Safety remains our top priority. There were no injuries or damage recorded, and all standard safety protocols were followed,” the statement noted.
While the exact cause of the incident remains unclear, Air Peace assured the public that a full investigation would be undertaken in collaboration with relevant aviation authorities. The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has not yet released a statement regarding the occurrence.
This incident comes just two months after another Air Peace aircraft was temporarily grounded at Asaba International Airport due to a collision with a stray antelope during taxiing. That earlier incident also led to temporary flight delays but no passenger injuries.
Aviation analysts suggest that the latest event may lead to renewed scrutiny of runway conditions and airport wildlife control across Nigeria’s airports to prevent future occurrences.
