JUST IN: Air Peace Cabin Crew Questions NSIB Over Alleged Marijuana Test Report

Maduneme Victory, a cabin crew member with Air Peace, has challenged the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) for failing to immediately inform her airline about the alleged traces of marijuana said to have been found in her system.

Speaking during an interview with Arise News Television on Friday, Victory argued that Air Peace should have been promptly notified, stressing that such a step would have stopped her from flying during the period of investigation.

She claimed the NSIB only relayed the information to the airline two months later, which she described as a deliberate attempt to smear the reputation of Air Peace.

She said:
“There is a question I need to ask the NSIB. If marijuana was found in my system, were they not supposed to tell my airline and stop me from flying? I would have been considered a risk to passengers on board, and my licenses should have been withdrawn. But they failed to inform my airline until after two months.”

Victory further alleged that the NSIB wrongfully reported she tested positive for hard drugs, including marijuana. She clarified that although an initial test result unexpectedly suggested traces of marijuana in her system, a subsequent confirmatory test completely cleared her, invalidating the bureau’s earlier report.

Her words:
“When I met the doctor, he explained that marijuana usually stays in the system for up to 90 days. He advised me to return later when I felt it would have cleared. But I refused because doing so would have implied I truly had it in my system. I insisted on taking the test immediately, and the result came out negative.”
