The Kogi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, veterans, and families of fallen heroes as the state joined the rest of the country to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo gave the assurance on Thursday during the official ceremony held in Lokoja, describing the occasion as a solemn reminder of the immense sacrifices made by men and women who paid the ultimate price in defence of Nigeria’s peace, unity, and territorial integrity.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu, Governor Ododo said the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day is more than a ceremonial event, noting that it is a sacred moment to honour soldiers who left the comfort of their homes and embraced an uncertain future in service to the nation.

He stressed that the courage, discipline, and patriotism of the fallen heroes remain a source of inspiration to the nation and must never be taken for granted.

The Governor assured families of the fallen heroes of the state government’s continued support, emphasizing that their sacrifices would never be forgotten and that the government remains committed to their welfare.
