Kwara Abduction: CAN Demands Swift Rescue of Victims
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has urged security agencies to act immediately to rescue the abducted members of the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State, and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
In a statement issued in Abuja, CAN President, Most Reverend Daniel Okoh, called for a transparent and credible investigation to uncover how the attack occurred, identify security lapses, and restore public confidence.
Expressing deep sadness over the violent assault on the church, Most Reverend Okoh also emphasized the need for enhanced security in places of worship, particularly in areas frequently exposed to violent threats.
He appealed to religious and community leaders to remain calm and avoid any form of reprisal attacks, stressing that “our collective focus must remain on justice, healing, and peace.”
The CAN President assured that the association would continue to follow developments closely and work with authorities to ensure that the victims of the Eruku attack receive justice and that Christian communities nationwide are better protected.
“We stand in solidarity with the families who lost loved ones, with those injured, with the abducted, and with the entire Eruku community in their moment of grief,” he said.
“Their pain is our collective pain, and their trauma is one no community of faith should ever have to endure.”
