A Federal High Court in Abuja has found Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), guilty on all seven terrorism charges filed against him by the Department of State Services (DSS).

With the conviction, Kanu now faces the possibility of a death sentence.

Delivering his judgment, Justice James Omotosho held that the prosecution had provided “sufficient credible evidence” to establish its case.

He further stated that the court had “no option but to believe the evidence as led by the prosecution,” adding that Kanu opted to “gamble” by declining to present a defence and choosing instead to rely entirely on the prosecution’s case.

Justice Omotosho is still reading the full judgment, after which a date will be fixed for sentencing.
