Mass Boycott Rocks APC Factional Event as Party Leaders Reaffirm Loyalty to Anosike

AWKA — In a renewed demonstration of unity within the Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), sixteen Local Government Chairmen, twenty-two members of the State Executive Committee, and twenty-eight aspirants across the state have distanced themselves from what they described as a “kangaroo grand entry,” reaffirming their unwavering loyalty to the state chairman, Senator Emma Anosike.

The show of solidarity comes amid lingering tension within the party following a controversial court process that sought to challenge Anosike’s leadership—a move the state APC executive had earlier dismissed as a “kangaroo judgment” lacking the support of genuine party stakeholders.
Party sources disclosed that the boycotted event, tagged a “Grand Entry,” was organized by a faction opposed to the current leadership in what appeared to be an attempt to project an alternative structure and challenge the legitimacy of the Anosike-led executive. However, the overwhelming absence of key party officials at the event has been interpreted by observers as evidence that the rival faction lacks the grassroots support it claims.
In separate statements, the affected chairmen, executive committee members, and aspirants explained that their decision to stay away was a deliberate rejection of what they described as an orchestrated distraction aimed at undermining the constitutionally recognized leadership of the party in the state. They reaffirmed their commitment to the Anosike-led executive, insisting that the chairman and his team remain the only legitimate authority managing the affairs of the APC in Anambra.
Party loyalists further argued that the scale of the boycott—cutting across local government chairmen, members of the state executive, and aspirants—clearly demonstrates where the bulk of grassroots support resides within the party. They maintained that any parallel structure or gathering outside the recognized leadership is a distraction that will not derail the APC’s preparations for the forthcoming National Assembly, State Assembly, and local government elections.
As of the time of filing this report, the organizers of the “Grand Entry” had yet to issue a public response to the boycott, while the Anosike-led executive is expected to formally address the development in the coming days.
