A woman in Delta State has narrowly escaped death following a terrifying attack allegedly carried out by her son, who reportedly attempted to remove her eyes for ritual purposes.

Speaking from her hospital bed, Mrs.
Oke Eregarnoma told journalists that her son, Emma Eregarnoma, invited her to his residence on Caroline Street, Okuokoko, under the guise of unveiling a “surprise package.
” She said that upon getting to the house, she observed that her son appeared unusually cheerful.
According to her account, Emma suddenly raised the volume of his music system, locked the door, and launched an attack on her. She alleged that he tried to strangle her and forcefully pluck out her eyes. Her cries for help, she said, were drowned out by the loud music, preventing neighbours from hearing her distress.
Mrs. Oke explained that after several minutes of intense struggle, she managed to free herself and flee the house. She was later rescued by neighbours who rushed to her aid.
She further disclosed that before the incident, her son had made a strange remark, boasting that he “must drive GLK this week,” though the meaning of the statement remains unclear.
Following the incident, Emma Eregarnoma was arrested and taken to the Orerokpe Divisional Police Headquarters in Okpe Local Government Area.
Confirming the development, the Delta State Police Acting Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, stated that the suspect is currently in police custody and that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
