NANS PARTNERS FRSC TO CHECK FAKE NUMBER PLATES

The National Association of Nigerian Students NANS has pledged to join forces with the Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC in combating the menace of fake number plates in the country

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Student Affairs comrade Sunday Ashefon who led the delegation of NANS leadership to the FRSC headquarters in Abuja condemned in totality, the proliferation of fake number plate describing it as a threat to national security

Comrade Ashefon maintained that President Bola Tinubu’s administration was not ready to fold its arms while unscrupulous individuals undermined the efforts of the FRSC and other law enforcement agencies in enhancing the safety and security of the citizens

“NANS being a highly reputable and recognised body will not allow it’s name to be stained by participating in unlawful escapades,”

Also, the NANS President, Lucky Omonefe while commending the efforts of the FRSC under the leadership of Mallam Shehu Mohammed said the association was ever ready to support and collaborate with the Corps towards the actualisation of its corporate mandate.

He, however, explained that the present leadership of NANS was cool headed, highly focused and ready for fruitful partnership.

“I pledge the administration’s readiness to engage its members across the country and sensitise them on the implications of using fake and unauthorised number plates,”

Earlier, the Corps Marshal, Mallam Shehu Mohammed explained that the ongoing special operations on Number plate violations was highly imperative for the enhancement of safety and security.

Mallam Shehu Mohammed commended the association for its decision to join FRSC in bringing sanity to the nation’s transport system

“We appreciate the support of NANS and we look forward to working together to achieve our common goal of ensuring road safety in Nigeria.

The meeting between NANS and FRSC was aim at sensitising students and the general public about the dangers of fake number plates and the importance of obtaining genuine number plates from lawful authority.
