National Assembly Disclaims Association with ALDRAP, Rejects Planned Award Ceremony
By Iyojo Ameh
The Office of the Clerk to the National Assembly has formally disclaimed any association with a group known as the Association of Legislative Drafting and Advocacy Practitioners (ALDRAP), warning the public against linking the National Assembly to the group or its activities.
In a disclaimer signed by Umar Tama, Deputy Director, Information and Special Adviser on Media to the Clerk to the National Assembly, on behalf of the Clerk, on Tuesday, the Office clarified that it has no affiliation whatsoever with ALDRAP, which was reportedly planning to float an association or establish a registry for legislative drafters.
The group had also planned to host an award ceremony, including a so-called “Blue Silk Award,” at the National Assembly Complex on Monday, December 15, 2025.
According to the statement, the proposed award ceremony was not approved and was not allowed to take place at the National Assembly Complex.
The Office further stated that at no time did the Clerk to the National Assembly consent to membership of the said association, accept or indicate interest in any award, or grant approval for the hosting of any event or ceremony by the group within the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.
It warned that any use of the name of the Clerk or the Office of the Clerk to the National Assembly in connection with ALDRAP or the purported event is unauthorized and should be disregarded.
“All concerned are advised to take note accordingly,” the statement added.
