National President Of Heavy Duty Drivers Commends Tinubu For Approving Road Projects
The National President of Heavy Duty Truck Drivers Association, Chief Uche Rogers Nebuwa has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving road projects in 13 States of the Federation
Chief Uche Rogers Nebuwa gave the commendation while speaking with newsmen in Abuja.
He said the move would further alleviate the plights being encounter by heavy duty truck drivers on the roads nationwide.
President Tinubu had during the week approved N787.14 billion and $651.7 million for road projects spanning 13 states, as approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC). Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, announced key updates:
—Ondo-Ekiti: 15km of the Akure-Ekiti road dualization revised to N19.4 billion.
—Sokoto-Zamfara-Katsina-Kaduna: 375km dual carriageway rescoped to 82.4km with six bridges, staying at N105 billion.
—Borno: 30km of the 105-km Maiduguri-Monguno road contracted for N21 billion, with more phases planned.
—Ebonyi: N25 billion Abakaliki-Afikpo Flyover approved.
—Ogun: Ikoga and Atan-Alapoti-Ado-Odo roads set for N37 billion.
—Enugu-Onitsha: 77km redesign, partly funded by MTN, at N150 billion.
—Southwest: Final 96km of Benin-Shagamu-Ore road budgeted at N187 billion.
—Lekki Corridor: 50km 7th Axial Road, with 5km of bridges, backed by $651.7 million from China Exim Bank, boosting access to Lekki Deep Seaport and Dangote facilities.
—Others: Aba include Aba-Ikot-Ekpene road (N30.2 billion), Ebute-Ero and Outer Marina shoreline protection (N176.5 billion), and Cham-Numan road refurbishment (N9.3 billion initial phase).
According to Chief Uche Rogers Nebuwa, the Association will continue to support President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda in the transportation sector.
He therefore called for more projects that would enhance the growth of the nation’s transport sector.
