New Chapter Opens as East Orange Partners Ugwumba Leadership Centre

The City of East Orange, New Jersey, United States, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Ugwumba Leadership Center for Africa in Imo State, Nigeria, aimed at promoting leadership, human capacity development and sustainable growth.

The partnership was unveiled during a meeting between the Mayor of East Orange, Mayor Ted Green, and the Founder of the Ugwumba Leadership Center for Africa, Chief Uche Nwosu, in New Jersey. Mayor Green described the collaboration as a major step towards strengthening ties between East Orange and Nigeria through leadership development, youth empowerment and investment in human capital. He noted that the initiative would encourage knowledge exchange, foster community development and deepen relations between both communities.
As part of the event, Mayor Green presented Chief Uche Nwosu with the City of East Orange’s Award for Outstanding Leadership and Human Capacity Development and decorated him with the official City Pin in recognition of his contributions to leadership and human capacity development. The Mayor praised Nwosu for his dedication to nurturing future leaders and improving lives through impactful initiatives.
Receiving the honour, Chief Uche Nwosu expressed gratitude to Mayor Green and the people of East Orange for the recognition. He said he was deeply humbled by the award and described it as an encouragement to further promote leadership and human capacity development. Speaking on the new partnership, Nwosu called it a milestone in strengthening relations between Nigeria and the United States, stressing that it would invest in people, empower young people, develop leaders and create lasting opportunities that would inspire growth, innovation and sustainable progress.
Nwosu also appreciated members of his delegation, including Mr. Kings Umege, Chief Ewhoma Tony Okpokparoro (Oilmoney), Prince Anozie Ugenyi and Mr. Kizito Umege, for their support during the visit. The partnership, to be coordinated by the Ugwumba Leadership Center for Africa, is expected to drive programmes in leadership development, skills acquisition, youth empowerment and sustainable community growth in both Nigeria and the United States.
