NFSS Organizes Leadership Training for ACGs, State Commanders, Urges Enhanced Intelligence and Performance
The Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) has conducted another round of Leadership Training for Assistant Commanders General (ACGs) and State Commanders across the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The training aimed to further equip the participants with advanced skills in intelligence gathering and effective protection of Nigeria’s forested regions.
Delivering a lead paper during the training held at the NFSS Headquarters in Abuja, the Commander General of the Service, Dr. Joshua Osatimehin, reaffirmed NFSS’s commitment to the continuous training and retraining of its personnel to complement the efforts of formal security agencies in combating insecurity across the country.
Dr. Osatimehin emphasized that addressing the nation’s security challenges requires special attention to securing Nigeria’s ungoverned spaces, particularly the vast forests spread across the country.
He urged participants to shun acts capable of undermining the objectives of the NFSS, stressing discipline and dedication to duty.
The Commander General also congratulated the newly appointed Service Chiefs, describing President Bola Tinubu’s decision as a strategic step toward tackling the nation’s security challenges.
He further renewed his appeal to President Tinubu to sign the NFSS Bill into law to support the “Renewed Hope Agenda,” particularly in ensuring the security of lives and property nationwide.
Some of the participating ACGs and State Commanders commended the training initiative, noting that it would enhance their leadership capacity and operational performance in their respective jurisdictions.
They also called on State Governments and relevant stakeholders to support the NFSS in strengthening security efforts at the grassroots level.
Highlights of the leadership training included the decoration of newly graduated NFSS officers who completed a Diploma Programme at Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, as well as an enlightenment session on financial management.
