Cleric Urges Nigerians to Embrace Unity, Resist Foreign Influence
Nigerians have been advised to place national unity above all else in addressing the challenges facing the country.
The Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, Garki, Abuja, Reverend Tom Takpatore, gave the advice during the church’s annual Thanksgiving service.
Reverend Takpatore stated that comments made by any foreign leader have no bearing on God’s promises for Nigeria, stressing the need for the Federal Government to devise lasting solutions to the nation’s security and economic challenges as well as the rising unemployment among young people.
He called on citizens to support the present administration and remain hopeful that the nation would soon be restored to the path of progress.
A member of the Women Missionary Union, Mrs. Grace Zamani, urged church members to cultivate a lifestyle of gratitude to God for the peace and unity of the country.
Mrs. Zamani further appealed to parents not to allow the prevailing economic hardship to disrupt harmony in their homes.
Also speaking, Mrs. Nike Takpatore reaffirmed the church’s commitment to supporting the less privileged, emphasizing that wealthy individuals and religious organizations have a moral responsibility to ease the suffering of the underprivileged in society.
The Thanksgiving service featured special songs, intercessory prayers for the nation, and the exchange of gifts.
