Niger Mining Tragedy: Tinubu Pledges ₦250m Relief Package
President Bola Tinubu has announced a ₦250 million support package for the bereaved families of the 37 artisanal miners who died in NSCDC custody in Niger State, as well as survivors of the incident.
The President announced the intervention in Minna when he visited Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago to condole with the state over the tragic incident.
The Vice President conveyed President Tinubu’s assurance that the Federal Government’s intervention was purely aimed at supporting the affected families, stressing that it had nothing to do with partisan politics.
He appealed to Nigerians to stop politicising the unfortunate incident or using it to demonise Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago.
He further assured that the Federal Government would ensure that anyone found culpable after the ongoing investigations would face the consequences of their actions.
Responding, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago thanked President Bola Tinubu for what he described as his consistent support for Niger State, particularly during periods of emergencies and difficult moments.
