No Vacancy for Deputy Governor’s Position in 2027 – Gov. Alia
From Dooshima Terkura, Makurdi
Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has declared that the office of the Deputy Governor is not up for grabs in the 2027 general elections.
The governor dismissed rumours suggesting that his deputy, Sam Ode, may be replaced, describing such speculations as baseless and a product of imagination.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed commissioners at the Government House, Makurdi, on Monday, Governor Alia reaffirmed his confidence in Ode’s capacity and commitment to governance.
“There is no vacancy for any Deputy Governor in 2027. I already have a Deputy Governor who understands governance, who is people-oriented, and always stands with and for the people. He is highly cerebral,” Alia said.
He further praised Ode’s competence and dedication, noting that he fully understands what is best for Benue State and is executing his duties effectively.
“For anyone thinking otherwise, I do not know. My Deputy is very capable and has all it takes to perform his functions. So, if anybody is eating and dreaming Deputy, there is no vacancy. I love working with him, and we share a strong personal relationship. Those wishing otherwise will not succeed,” the governor added.
