NSITF Goes Digital, Drives Efficiency and Accountability
The Managing Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Mr.
Oluwaseun Faleye, says the Fund has transitioned from manual operations to a more digital, efficient and accountable institution over the last two years.
Faleye stated this when he received the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Dr. Kamil Shoretire, on a familiarisation visit to the NSITF Headquarters in Abuja.
He said that when the current management assumed office in July 2024, it inherited an institution with significant reliance on manual processes, a top-heavy management structure, career stagnation, and gaps in the deployment of personnel and resources.
According to Faleye, the management has since undertaken a comprehensive staff audit, commenced digital transformation from manual to integrated systems, and carried out a Voluntary Exit Exercise to create a leaner organisation with clearer responsibilities and opportunities for career progression.
He said the reforms have expanded coverage for Nigerian workers through the onboarding of treasury-funded Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), as well as the payment of claims to the first batch of five beneficiaries.
Faleye added that engagement with State Governments is at an advanced stage as the Fund seeks to deepen the Employees’ Compensation Scheme.
In his response, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Dr. Kamil Shoretire, commended the reforms at the Fund and pledged the Ministry’s continued support.
He also called for collaboration with sister agencies to extend coverage to the informal sector while enhancing workplace safety programmes.
