NUJ FCT Chairperson, Grace Ike, Receives African Leadership Excellence Award

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, Comrade Grace Ike, has been conferred with the African Leadership Excellence Award at the third edition of the African Legendary Award (AFRILA 2025) held in Abuja.
The event, which drew dignitaries and media professionals from across the continent, recognized Ike for her outstanding leadership, humanitarian service, and significant contributions to the broadcasting sector.
Speaking at the event, Ebriku John Friday, editor of the NUJ FCT online news platform, received the award on Ike’s behalf. He commended her dedication to journalists’ welfare and her inclusive leadership style, describing her as a transformational figure within the union. He also noted that Ike made history as the first female chairperson of the NUJ FCT Council in its 41-year history.
In her acceptance message, Ike expressed appreciation to the organizers of the award and dedicated the recognition to God and members of the NUJ FCT Council. She acknowledged the support she received during her election and throughout her leadership journey. She also urged journalists to maintain professionalism, uphold ethical standards, and remain steadfast in delivering fair and balanced reportage.
With more than 17 years of experience in broadcast journalism, Grace Ike currently serves with the Advocate Broadcasting Network (ADBN), Abuja. Her continued advocacy for excellence and integrity in journalism has made her a respected figure in Nigeria’s media landscape.
