Oyo Rescue: Onawo Commends Makinde, Seeks Justice for Victims
By Our Reporter
Senator representing Nasarawa South, Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, has urged leaders at all levels of government to remain accountable to both Almighty God and Nigerians in their responsibility to protect lives and property amid the country’s worsening insecurity.
The Allied People’s Movement (APM) senator made the appeal while reacting to the safe rescue of pupils and teachers abducted for about 56 days by kidnappers in the Ogbomosho area of Oyo State.
Speaking on Sunday, Senator Onawo commended the security agencies, the government, and Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for handling the situation with sincerity, maturity, and the attention it deserved.
He also appealed to President Bola Tinubu to adopt a more comprehensive approach toward securing the release of other kidnapped victims across the country. He urged security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue all those still being held captive by kidnappers nationwide.
Senator Onawo sympathised with the families of those who lost their lives during the period of captivity and the rescue operation, particularly the teachers and security personnel who died in the process.
He wished the rescued children and teachers a speedy recovery and reunion with their families, while calling on governments at all levels to ensure the victims receive adequate compensation.
The senator also congratulated the APM National Chairman and the party over the security breakthrough, urging the party to continue playing its role as a responsible opposition.
