The Coalition of Federal Pensioners of Nigeria has announced plans for a nationwide naked protest to demand the payment of outstanding pension increment arrears and palliative allowances owed to its members.

This was disclosed by the coalition’s National Chairman, Mr. Mukaila Ogunbote, in a statement issued on Friday in Lagos.

Ogunbote also serves as the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NIPOST Chapter.

He stated that the protest is scheduled for December 8, unless the Federal Government clears the arrears of the N32,000 pension increment and the N25,000 palliative allowance approved since 2023.

“The Federal Ministry of Finance and the Office of the Accountant General are not taking us seriously. All pensioners must come out en masse to resist this injustice,” he said.

According to him, demonstrations will be held in Abuja, Lagos, and other states across the federation.

Ogunbote explained that the protests would take place at the offices of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) and in front of various Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) stations.

He called on chairmen and secretaries of all affiliated organisations to mobilise their members effectively.

“We must reveal the wounds our clothes have been covering.
This protest will continue until the N32,000 pension increment and the N25,000 palliative for six months reflect in our accounts. Those who cannot go back home should come with mats.
All pensioners must come out and fight for their rights,” he said. (NAN)
