Reps summon Ribadu over ‘unrecognised’ PFIPC
The House of Representatives has summoned the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to explain the actions taken by his office after confirming that the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) was not a recognised government institution.

The summons followed the testimony of the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dunoma Ahmed, who told the committee that the ministry never recognised the PFIPC. He disclosed that investigations by the Office of the National Security Adviser established that the council’s alleged Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi, was unknown to the Federal Government.
According to Ambassador Ahmed, the ministry declined all requests from the PFIPC seeking collaboration and endorsement for a proposed World Investment Summit in Nigeria after due diligence revealed inconsistencies in the council’s correspondence and raised concerns about its legitimacy and leadership. He added that the ministry later wrote to the Office of the National Security Adviser, which confirmed that enquiries with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President showed that Adeyemi was not known to the Federal Government.
Reacting to the submission, Chairman of the committee, Yusuf Gagdi, said the panel would require Mallam Ribadu to explain the steps taken by his office after the findings, stressing that lawmakers must determine whether adequate measures were taken to stop the activities of the council.
