The Minister in charge of First Baptist Church, Gwagwalada, Abuja, Reverend Deji Oyelami, has urged Christians to always be honest in managing what belongs to God and has been entrusted to their care.

Reverend Oyelami made the call during his sermon at the church’s Sunday service in Gwagwalada, Abuja.

Reading from the Book of James, Chapter 1, verses 16 and 17, the Baptist cleric said everything a person possesses comes by the grace of God. He therefore urged Christians to use their talents, spiritual gifts, wisdom, positions, wealth, knowledge and other resources at their disposal to the glory of God.

In his words, “Every good thing comes from God. Therefore, whatever good things our hands find to do, we should use each and every one of them in serving the Lord. We should not forget the Most High God, who, by His mercy and grace, blesses us in one way or another, because there are many people out there seeking the same favour from their Creator,” he stated.

According to him, God expects every Christian to recognise that whatever they possess and whatever they become on earth is known to Him, stressing that acquiring such blessings is not by their might or power.

Reverend Oyelami, who expressed concern over the attitude of some Christians towards their service to God, noted that every blessing, time and season is given to them by God. He pointed out that they should always put God first in the course of their stewardship to the Lord.

“Some doors are closed to some Christians today because of their lukewarm attitude and ungrateful behaviour in using their God-given talents to His glory. God will never fold His arms towards those who are committed to serving Him in His vineyard and winning souls for Jesus Christ,” the Baptist cleric stressed.

He explained that Christians must not wait until they have everything before rendering service to God through the little things they possess, noting that God does not forget any genuine service, whether little or much.

Reverend Oyelami therefore emphasised the need for Christians to always be good stewards in their service to God to ensure the expansion of His kingdom.

“Whatever God is demanding from you, do not hesitate to do it, and make sure you serve the Lord with the whole of your heart, because we need good and faithful stewards to prevent the kingdom of God from falling,” he added.
