Rights Activist Commends Theatre Commander, Army Over Release of Detained Gwoza Resident

A human rights activist, Hamza N. Dantani, has commended the Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, and the Nigerian Army for facilitating the release of Abdullahi Umar, popularly known as KC Gwoza, after nearly seven months in detention.
In a statement on Sunday, Dantani said Umar had been held for almost seven months without any known offence before the intervention of the Theatre Commander led to his release.
He said the commander demonstrated fairness and commitment to justice by granting his team an audience, listening to their concerns, and directing Umar’s immediate release.
According to Dantani, the action reflects professionalism, respect for the rule of law, and responsiveness to legitimate complaints.
The activist also commended the officers and personnel of the Nigerian Army whose efforts contributed to the detainee’s release, saying such actions would strengthen public confidence in the military and reaffirm its commitment to justice, accountability, and the protection of citizens’ rights.
He further extended condolences to the families of soldiers who lost their lives while defending Nigeria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Dantani prayed that Almighty Allah grants the fallen soldiers eternal rest, comforts their families, and gives the nation’s armed forces continued strength, protection, and success in safeguarding the country.
