Security : NYCN Supports FRSC’s War Against Fake Number Plates

To enhance intelligence gathering and advancing the course of national security, the National Youth Council of Nigeria NYCN has pledged unalloyed support to the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC in its quest to rid the nation of fake number plates.

This partnership aims to promote road safety, enhance inter-agency collaboration, and foster a culture of responsibility among Nigerian youths.

President of NYCN, Ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, during a visit to the FRSC Headquarters Abuja, said proliferation of fake number plates poses a significant threat to national security and road safety.

According to him, as young leaders, the Council recognises the importance of contributing to the security of the nation. Hence, the urgency for the need for this partnership and support.

He pledged the readiness of NYCN to work with the FRSC to educate its members and the general public on the dangers of fake number plates as well as the importance of obtaining genuine number plates through authorised channels.

He declared the willingness of his Office to engage in joint enforcement with the Corps to get rid of the menace.

In a remark, the Assistant Corps Marshal Operations, ACM Hyginus Uche Omeje who received the delegation at the national headquarters in Abuja on behalf of Corps Marshal Mallam Shehu Mohammed maintained that FRSC has been at the forefront of the campaign against fake number plates, and this partnership with the NYCN is expected to amplify the efforts of the Corps.

He applauded the willingness of the Council to contribute to nation-building through advocacy and sensitisation, describing the gesture as highly patriotic.

The FRSC, at the beginning of this year, commenced aggressive enforcement against the proliferation of fake number plates in Nigeria, with about 400 vehicles so far impounded for contravention.
